My schooling life, from 2007 till now.
Xingnan Primary School
- I got in via balloting.
- It was fun here.
<Hover over me> I want to know more!
In here, I came across several others with similar interests, or at least with enough in common. Some remained
friends (albeit distant ones) till now.
Life in here was a breeze. Stress was completely non-existent, even during PSLEs. The fact that the school leaders
were not oppressive to the point where it bothers me helps too.
I go to school, do some work, play, come home, do some more work, play more, then go to school again. It was
that simple.
During my last two years, they started coming down with revised school rules and policies. At least I got out
before it became ugly.
Fuhua Secondary School
- I thought it was the best option, given my PSLE score and its location. I thought wrong.
- It wasn't fun here. But the friends I met made it bearable.
<Hover over me> I want to know more!
- In primary school, I looked forward to going home because I can play more at home. Over here, it was because
I hated being here.
- Teachers tried to take our personal belongings for unrelated reasons. 'Didn't do your practice paper? Give
me your phone; I will keep it for a week.'
- Teachers brought whatever anger they had from outside into the classroom. We were there for them to vent
their frustration at.
- CCA wasn't any better. Hypocritical teachers and their bootlickers introduced me to to a world of toxicity
I had never seen before. 'You're supposed to come for CCA even if you just do nothing here!'
- Apart from the compulsory pure chemistry, pure physics and double maths, I took pure biology too. Partly
for the academic benefit, partly for avoiding being in the same class as some people.
- I minimise my interactions with all toxic beings, did what I needed to scrape my way past assignments and
tests, stayed close to friends I met. That was how I got over my four year stint.
- Had a bad time here, but at least I left with
decent grades and those good friends.
- Did I forget to include the 1 hour daily free time I had for 6 months straight, and the amount of workload
given/time wasted doing nothing in school to cause this?
Singapore Polytechnic
- More specifically, DIT course, offered by school of DMIT.
- Enjoying my time here so far. Seems like the carefree days of my primary school era are coming back in another
form.
<Hover over me> I want to know more!
- We are treated like adults here. I like that.
- Lecturers teach, not oppress or vent on us. I like that too.
- Assignments may result in me during those periods of each semester, but then again we have almost no homework
to do outside of those periods.
- Tasks given were satisfying to complete. Triumph over a working block of code when working on assignments
beats relief from finishing past year papers given as homework.
- I like the environment here.
